Two Silicon Valley education foundations merge
Silicon Valley / San Jose Business Journal
A merger of two education foundations in the Silicon Valley -- the San Jose Education Foundation and the Santa Clara County Education Foundation -- was announced Monday.
The newly joined Silicon Valley Education Foundation will serve as a clearinghouse for local businesses and individuals to give to public schools. The San Jose Education Foundation served city schools, while the Santa Clara County Education Foundation served the county education office. Jointly they will work with 33 public school districts along with an adult education district.
A $600,000 grant from San Jose-based Cisco Systems Inc. (NASDAQ:CSCO) will pay for development of software that allows teachers to share lesson plans online.
