Future Plans
Since I immigrated to this country, I have looked at my family’s situation and I knew that education was going to be a valuable component of my life. My family is separated, and my dad has a very unstable job. My father and I reside here in Silicon Valley, California while my mother, sister, and brother live in Durango, Mexico. My parents sacrificed their unity due to unfortunate economic status. They decided to split the family to give me an opportunity to continue expanding my knowledge.
I decided to support my family to overcome this situation by setting up goals to receive the highest level of education possible. Luckily, I got accepted to Silicon Valley State University where I have attended for a full year. Currently, I am going to start my sophomore year, in which I will take eighteen units this upcoming semester (fall 2007). Fortunately, the Meadows Neighborhood Scholarship Committee, Carl, and Bertha considered my situation and their scholarship is assisting me pay my tuition including books, fees, and other costs. I am very honored by their support. Being a role model for my family, succeeding in life, and assuring my family’s prosperity are my personal educational goals in life; therefore, giving up is not an option.
