Teachers
Field trip grants of up to $500 will be awarded to any individual teacher or group of teachers who work in one of the 19 school districts in the city of San Jose. Grants are available to teachers of any grade level. Funds may be used for transportation costs, admission fees and/or materials needed for the field trip project. Field trip projects must be more than just a student “outing”. There must be pre-trip classroom activities, student activities during the trip as well as post-trip activities. There should be some kind of evaluation of student work based on the trip experience. Applicants are also asked to describe how this particular field trip will enhance their curriculum and how the trip will change the way students view what they are learning in the classroom. Many typical field trip destinations (such as the Exploratorium) offer field trips with student materials already prepared. Applicants should check to see if this type of curricula is available and appropriate for the particular group of students. Whether prepared by the institution or prepared by the teacher, a copy of all the student materials used will be expected with the final report after completion of the trip. These materials may be posted on the SVEF website for use by other teachers. The Field Trip Grant Application Form is available in MS Word format. It is highly recommended that applicants download this form and fill it out prior to transferring the information to the Online Application Form. It is also recommended that applicants save a copy of the MS Word version of their application. To download a MS Word copy of the application, click here
